Schools Beyond Regions and Borders

Every day life and highlights at Loreto Abbey Dalkey

Loreto Abbey Dalkey is a Catholic school for girls located in the village of Dalkey in South County Dublin, Ireland. It was founded in 1843 and is one of many Loreto schools worldwide. While our school is Catholic, students of all religions or none can attend. Our uniform consists of a white and maroon striped shirt, a green pullover and a green skirt.

Most students in the school study English, Irish and Maths as well as a wide range of other subjects such as History, Art, Music and Business. One of my favourite subjects is English because I love reading books in class and writing about them after. I also love History because it is so interesting to learn about the past and where we come from. Each day we start school at 8:45 and finish at 15:40. On Wednesdays we have a half day and finish at 13:00. There are a lot of different sports teams in our school including basketball, hockey and table tennis. Students can also take part in other activities like debating, art club or Irish language club.

One of the best days of the year in our school is Spirit Day where all of the students dress up in crazy costumes and compete in short team games for a prize. Each year there is a different theme and it is organised entirely by the Student Council. Spirit Day takes place every May and is the highlight of the year for all of the students in Loreto Abbey Dalkey!
